3 MUST DO THINGS WHEN VISITING LA FORTUNA WITH A BABY

Ready. Set. Explore.

1. **Choc-o-lot of Fun on the Rainforest Chocolate Tour! 🌳🍫**

Looking for a sweet family activity in La Fortuna? We love the Rainforest Chocolate Tour! This awesome little tour gave us a taste of how chocolate is made from bean to bar.

We started off on a short hike through their private rainforest reserve, learning about cacao and its important role in Costa Rican culture. Our naturalist guide showed us cacao trees and we even got to taste the bitter raw beans straight from the pod!

Then it was time for the fun part - making our own chocolate! We got to grind up the roasted cacao beans on a traditional mill and mix it with warm milk, sugar, and other ingredients. Sofia had a ball helping mash everything together.

2. **Walking on Air at the Mistico Hanging Bridges 🌳🌉**

Looking for an incredible way to experience the Costa Rican rainforest with your little one? Don't miss the Mistico Hanging Bridges in La Fortuna! This series of 16 suspended walkways is absolutely breathtaking.

What makes Mistico so great for families is that the trails and bridges are nice and wide, with sturdy handrails all the way across. We easily navigated them with our carrier and didn't feel unsafe at any point.

Be sure to wear closed toe shoes and bring rain jackets. The jungle can get muddy! They also have strollers to rent and a playground at the entrance.

3. **Splashing Fun at La Fortuna Waterfall 🌊👶**

If you're looking for an amazing family-friendly adventure in La Fortuna, the breathtaking La Fortuna Waterfall is an absolute must! This gorgeous 230-foot cascading waterfall is perfect for little explorers.

Getting to the falls is an adventure itself - you'll descend over 500 steps through the lush jungle before being rewarded with the powerful natural wonder. Don't worry, they have benches to rest at along the way for any needed break.

Once you arrive, you'll find plenty of shallow, calm pools at the base of the waterfall that are perfect for wading and splashing. The water is cool and refreshing after the steep hike down. Beware if it has rained they forbid swimming for your safety.

Be sure to bring swimsuits, water shoes, snacks, and sun protection. There are changing rooms on site.

The La Fortuna Waterfall was one of the biggest highlights of our time in Costa Rica. Seeing pure joy on our baby's face as she experienced the power of nature is a memory we'll cherish forever.
